On ODL Design Summit 2014 discussions led to depracate inventory model in favour of topology model - which has notions of multiple topologies.

Inventory model in reality is only topology without links.

Some of current applications are using topology exclusively and some of apps
uses mix of inventory and topology. Deprecated inventory will push people
towards one common model.
