Description
There have been many discussions over the years about how large ODL's karaf.log file should be and how many rollovers we should keep. The current situation is that the config for most deployments is managed by puppet-opendaylight, and it's set to 10GB and 2 rotations. The old configuration was something like 100MB and 10 rotations. In response to downstream and user requests, we tried to get "one large log file" in most deployments by setting a larger-than-we-hope-to-hit max log size. We keep two rollovers because if we only keep one, just-logged data would be lost when we rollover. Now that many folks are doing longer, larger deployments, they are actually filling up these 20GB of logs, which is very difficult to manage. The root issue is of course too much logging, and other folks are working on that. However, we can maybe fix things a bit by finding some middle ground between too many small logs and too large of logs in puppet-opendaylight. Ideas? 10x1GB?
