The attached 1 MB log, taken from a netvirt/vpnservice/distribution/karaf/target/assembly/data/log/ after a Ctrl-D in a non-SFT real Karaf is a small piece of what I'm starting to understand is a more general topic than the particular message raised in MDSAL-235 ...

... yang-parser-impl spews several MBs of INFO logs during shutdown.

This kind of log has no real value IMHO, and is only confusing - we should see if we can suppress that, or even simply make all those kind of logs debug instead of INFO during shutdown?

Oups, sorry. I've recreating it attached as log.zip. So that is in a fresh instance, after "feature:install odl-netvirt-openstack", and Ctrl-D - we have 2.5 MB useless log!

This depends on MDSAL-235 (or you could even consider it a dupe).

Disconnecting from MDSAL-235 as they are two separate issues: one is the startup case, another is the shutdown case. We can fix this one just by OSGi means, we cannot fix the other one without help from karaf.

As it turns out, the logs you are seeing are duplicates coming from incomplete controller->mdsal migration. The controller copy of the code is actually mostly silent thanks to Tom's fixes that went in long ago. Unfortunately those have not gotten into the mdsal part.

The fix for controller is rather simple:
