 Description   

when loading odl-netvirt-openstack in the latest boron distributions, the
netvirt services are not coming up. there are blueprint errors showing that
some containers cannot start.

To better assess the impact of this bug and fix, could someone from your team please help us identify the following:
Regression: Is this bug a regression of functionality/performance/feature compared to Boron SR3?
Severity: Could you elaborate on the severity of this bug? Is this a BLOCKER such that we cannot release Boron SR4 without it?
Workaround: Is there a workaround such that we can write a release note instead?
Testing: Could you also elaborate on the testing of this patch? How extensively has this patch been tested? Is it covered by any unit tests or system tests?
Impact: Does this fix impact any dependent projects?

That's a really big patch that seems to do a lot more than just fix the issue at hand. Is there something simpler that might fix the issue?

As a much less important an aside, how did such a major issue escape automated testing.

That was my fault. We ran csit on the original patch and it failed, but during that time we were having other infra issues and overlooked the failures in the patch.

As for size of patch, it really isn't large as much as the original patch was a bad cherry-pick. From boron to carbon we migrated to use singleton annotations in the blueprint wiring. That makes the blueprint.xml much different. The cherry-pick from carbon to boron did not take that into account properly and that is what caused the bug. NetVirt startup would fail because bundle dependencies were not right. The blueprint.xml has to be changed as the new patch does to fix the issue.

Yes.

It is a blocker. The NetVirt feature will not start.

The patch has gone through manual and CSIT. Both have passed 100%.
