[YANGTOOLS-1081] Step-by-step tutorial fails during maven build

I followed the directions (below) from page https://wiki.opendaylight.org/view/OpenDaylight_Controller:MD-SAL:Archetype_Tutorial#1._Generating_the_Application_Skeleton

1. Generating the Application Skeleton

Run the following commands to start the generation of the application skeleton:

git clone https://git.opendaylight.org/gerrit/toolkit.git && cd toolkit && mvn clean install -D skipTests

The result is a maven failure:

Maybe this assumes some maven settings in my ~/.m2/settings.xml that I do not yet have? It would helpful if the prereqs section on that same page listed that. If you teach me how to repair I'll be glad to update the wiki page. Thanks in advance.
